Oklahoma (Nellysford, Virginia) and Heathers (Columbus, Ohio)

All positions must be willing to travel to multiple venues throughout their contract. Travel and Housing cost covered by BCE.

Directing/Production Intern:

Reports to the Artistic Director. This position will be cross-disciplinary and will work in many different areas of the theater over the course of the summer. Will act as an on-site assistant to all Directors throughout the summer.  Will also assist in other areas as needed, including, but not limited to, run crews, load-ins, marketing, and general operations. Must have some basic knowledge of technical theater, as well as a specific interest directing.

Administrative and Operations Intern:

Reports to the Director of Operations. Assist in all aspects of box office management, including tickets sales, tracking complimentary tickets, subscription management, and data entry utilizing Theatrisoft’s ticketing software; Work directly with the Director of Operations to assist audience members in finding and purchasing tickets with the highest level of customer service; Act as the first point of contact for audience members looking to experience BCE performances; Assist in the daily tracking of ticketing reports and sales.

Marketing and Sales Intern:

Reports to the Director of Marketing, this individual will contribute to existing marketing programs, while assisting with the execution of new initiatives aligned with BCE’s goals. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with a wide range of marketing functions, including communications, design, branding, digital marketing, and social media. The marketing intern must be an organized multitasker able to handle many diverse projects at once and meet tight deadlines.

Costumes and Wardrobe Intern:

Assist in the setup of the costume shop and wardrobe areas before and after the run of each show; updating the stock item inventory and restocking general supplies and materials; Assist in pattern making, draping, and construction of all costume/wardrobe related needs; Assist in providing wardrobe and soft goods support to all BCE events. Assist in the maintenance of costumes throughout shows runs including repairs, adjustments, and performer requests; Assist in all load-in and load-outs as needed; May also assist with general errands, copying, filing, special events, etc.; Participate in daily cleaning, organization, and maintenance calls at the venue. Must have basic theatrical sewing skills. 

Lighting and Electrics Intern:

Assist in lighting hang, strike, circuiting, and focus; Assist in all load-in and load-outs; Assist in providing lighting and general support to all BCE events. Responsible for running shows (board operation or running crew); Maintain current show and lighting inventory, along with basic maintenance in the venue; May also assist with general errands, copying, filing, special events, etc.; Participate in daily cleaning, organization, and maintenance calls at the venue

Scenic and Carpentry Intern:

Assist in the construction and installation for all productions; Assist in the construction of sets to ensure design completion and labor efficiency to balance budget necessities with design integrity; Actively participate in scenic load-in and load-outs; Assist in maintaining shop equipment; Assist in the coordination and build of scenic needs for all other BCE events; May also assist with general errands, copying, filing, special events, etc.; Participate in daily cleaning, organization, and maintenance calls at the venue and/or scenic shop.
